Botany

Brief History

The Department of Botany came to existence in the 1984-85 session with 256 seats in +2 wings. Botany was introduced in the 1989-90 session with 48 affiliated seats. The department became full-fledged when Honors teaching was imparted in session 2001-02 with 16 seats, which was enhanced to 24 seats in session 2018-19.

  1. Many students pursue higher studies and complete their Post-Graduation in Botany, Environmental Science and a few of them got a Doctoral Degree.
  2. Some other students have completed B. Ed & CT training courses and employed in various government and non-government schools.
  3. A lot of students from our department are presently serving in various govt. and private sectors, such as banking, railways, postal, health care, police, defense, management, mass media and financial sectors.

Future Plan

  1. Conduct more departmental seminars, interdepartmental talks, group discussions, etc.
  2. To maintain good synergy between teachers & students
  3. Make students aware of the prospect of Botany opting as Honors Courses.
  4. Most of the students of this college come from a heterogeneous socio-economic background, so they should properly be guided to go for B. Ed & other training to get them-selves an early employment.
  5. A guidance and counseling cell is formed for all round development of the personality of individual students.

A beautiful botanical garden in the vicinity of the Botany Department is maintained by staff and students of the Department.
