Introduction
The department of chemistry was opened in the year 1984 with 256 seats in +2 science as per the decision of the Govt. of Odisha in the Department of Higher Education and Youth services, Bhubaneswar. Smt Suprema Kanungo joined the department as the first teacher and nourished the department in its infancy. In 1989 +3 science (PCM & CBZ) was opened with 64 seats in PCM and 48 seats in CBZ as per the decision of the Govt. of Odisha. The department started with Honours teaching with 16 students on roll in the year 1999. There after the Honours seats were increased to 24 from the session 2016-17.
Aim and Objective:
- Teacher student relationship
- Performing seminar work in the department twice a month
- Imparting good practical knowledge among the students as far as possible
- Taking proctorial classes for weaker students
- Periodically evaluation of students
- To carry out project oriented work in our periphery

- Conducting more departmental seminars, interdepartmental talks, group discussions, etc.
- To maintain good synergy between teachers & students
- A guidance and counseling cell is to be formed for the all round development of personality of the individual students.
Seminar Library :
The department has a seminar library enriched with some important reference books and journals, which are intensively used by the students and faculty of the department.
Question Bank :
the seminar posses the old questions of the University for the Degree students.
