1. HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT :
The Department of Psychology was started in 1979 with a view to provide theoretical and practical knowledge in the discipline of psychology. It had 48 seats to begin with and Dr. Raghunath Sahoo In 1989, Dr. Santosh Kumar Parida also joined the department to enhance its stature. The department has a well-equipped laboratory where basic psychological research and experimentation is carrried away. The departmental library hosts a number of valuable journals and books to aid teaching and experimentation. Smt Namita Mishra and Miss Chinmayee Parida were some of the distinguished faculties who contributed immensely to the development of the department. Eminent scholars and resource persons from different universities across Odisha have also graced this department with their presence.
2. Aim and Objective:
The following specific aims of teaching Psychology are listed below :
- To provide students a broad survey of the Political world, focusing upon the ideas, institutions and processes that shape modern politics.
- To develop critical reasoning, effective communication skill and coherent analytical writing.
- To develop an alternative prospective on Politics outside the class room boundary.
- To develop the personal value and understanding about the world that exist around the students.
