Introduction:

The department of physics was opened in the year 1984 with 128 seats in +2 science as per the decision of the Govt. of Odisha in the Department of Higher Education and Youth services, Bhubaneswar. Miss Bidyut Prava Choudhury joined the department as the first teacher and nourished the department in the initial years. In 1989 Bsc (PCM) was opened with 64 seats as per the decision of the Govt. of Odisha. The department started with Honours teaching with 16 students on roll in the year 1999.
