1. Brief History:
The department of Mathematics was opened in the year 1984-85 with 128 seats in +2 science as per decision of the Govt. Of Odisha. Sj Krushna Chandra Roy joined the department as first teacher in 1984. He discharged his duties sincerely for the department till his departure from this institution. Then, Sri Prasan Kumar Patra joined in this department in 1987. Mr. Sisir Chandra Swain and Mr Asit Ranjan Mohapatra joined thereafter. After transfer of Sri Pattra, Mr Bisweswar Nanda joined as faculty member and took the charges of HOD. Subsequently, Mr Sisir Chandra Swain and Mr Asit Ranjan Mohapatra transferred from this college and after departure of above faculty members, Sri Kshetrabasi Rout joined in this department. Honours in mathematics opened with 16 seats during the session 2018-19.
2. Aim and Objective:
The following specific aims of teaching Mathematics are stated below:
- To acquire Knowledge
- To equip students to pursue various Vocational courses in later life
- To build a strong and ideal character
- To make students to take part in various competitive examinations to get various jobs both in Govt and private sectors.
- Harmonious Development of a good and ethical character
- To make students politically democratic

Teaching Method:
- Classroom lecturer
- Proctoral and extra classes
- Students seminars and group discussion
- project work
- Field trips, educational Tour/Survey/Experimentation and Excursions.
- Special seminars with special lectures by eminent academicians
- Minimum 7 hours time is spent by the faculty members to deal with the academic matters to monitor the overall performance of the students through regular assessment.B
Academic Performance: Since Since 2018-19:
The result at the +2 & +3 level in Mathematics compulsory has been quite satisfactory, Since the beginning of the college. The 8 honours students appearing their respective semester examinations whose final result is yet to come in the year 2020-21.
